Long at last. Super League of Malawi clubs are now at liberty to engage kit sponsors, ending a protracted tussle between clubs, Sulom and the league sponsors.
Meanwhile, Sulom President has hinted on the prospects of the league sponsors to improve the package in the soon to be announced contractual deal.
Sulom President Tiya Somba broke the news in Lilongwe at the end of a day long Annual General meeting held at Capital Hotel in Lilongwe.
“On kit sponsorship we are very happy and indicate that clubs are free to get any partner they deem fit to be their kit sponsor which technically means teams now have kits bragging rights.
This means that clubs are free to have branded kits save for kits provided for by the sponsor TNM which cannot be altered to accommodate other club partners”, Somba Banda said.
Meanwhile, the Sulom President Tiya Somba Banda says indications are there that TNM, the elite league sponsors will increase the sponsorship package.
According to Somba Banda, so far nearly 90 percent of the issues raised by the clubs were consideres and agreed upon in principle by TNM.
“What is remaing is to agree on sponsorship package, how it will look like and how it will be structured.
So, that we should be able to conclude is conclude between now and 9 OOctor and thereoff we will make the pronouncements on how the whole package is like,”he said.
