The body of James Chimpweya, an admiringly skilled and exceptionally popular photojournalist for Nation Publications Limited has been taken from College of Medicine morgue to his residence at Safarao in Ndirande Township.
Earlier on, scores of Journalists and media managers converged outside COM as Chimpweya’s was being collected at the morgue.
A funeral service will be held at 1.30 pm at Kachere CCAP in Ndirande before his body is taken to Chikwawa (Thabwa) his home village for burial Tuesday , 01 December 2020.
James Chimpweya, whose camera captured many untold stories including in the Sports arena died on Sunday morning at the age of 63.
He reportedly collapsed soon after delivering his speech as patron for LWC Gospel Top 20 Chart in Chikwawa where the group was making a donation of various relief items.
One of the reporters that covered the event told www.swammw.com that Chimpweya was rushed to Mfera private clinic before he was referred to Chikwawa District Hospital late Saturday afternoon.
James was best known for a series of photographs documenting the emotions drawing action shots during sports events and beyond that popped awe inspiring on Nation News Paper’s sports pages.
His excellent photography skills in the Sports arena saw James Chimpweya scooping several super league and netball best photographer awards.
Many media practitioners both active and retired posted messages on Facebook, WhatsApp forums and tweeter expressing sadness, condolences and paying tribute to him.
