Ronald Soka Manda, who was father to Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu Manda has died. He was 81.
Nyamilandu who is currently in Cameroun for the Confederation of African Nations described his father’s demise as devastating.
He mourned: “He was the most amazing dad one could ever want. He always had a smile on his face, very loving and kind. Because of his generosity, my dad opened doors for many people.
Nyamilandu went on to express his frustration for not having an opportunity to bid farewell to his dad.
“I will be traveling back home tomorrow (Sunday). It is traumatizing that i will not be able to say goodbye to my dad. How i wish, we gave him a proper and befitting burial, he lamented.”
Nyamilandu’s father Succumbed to COVID-19 with old age on Saturday, 23 January 2021.
He will be laid to rest today (Saturday 23, January 2021) at 5 pm at Misesa Cemetery in Limbe but vigil is currently taking place at his retirement home, BCA Hill.
Late Ronald Soka Manda was the first Malawian Personal Manager for the then SUCOMA, now Illovo Sugar, where he worked for over two decades before his retirement in early 2001.
He is survived by his wife Hazel, son Walter Nyamilandu Manda, daughters Dr. Lucida Manda Taylor and Sarah Manda Feakes as well as 10 grandchildren.
Born on 02 April, 1939, late Walter’s father hailed from Msuli Village, T/A Fuka Malaza, Nkhatabay district.
