The match awaited Netball Association of Malawi Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, 29th May 2021 at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima, NAM said in a statement.
Among others the AGM will receive reports from the President, Secretary General and Treasurer.
Additionally, the conference will also appoint auditors before electing new executive committee.
According to NAM vice General Secretary Brian Mahara Gausi, Only eligible nominees’ shall be allowed to contest for positions of the elections of the Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, several names have reportedly emerged as potential challengers to the incumbent NAM President Khungekire Matiya.
They include former NAM treasure-cum politician Abigal Sherrif, ex- Queens’s shooters Mary Waya and Linda Magombo Munthali as well as one-time Blantyre and District Netball League vice chairperson Isaac Chimwala.
In 2017, Magombo Munthali contested for the position of vice General Secretary but miserable lost to the incumbent Brian Gausi.
Matiya confirmed intentions to defend her post to regional chairpersons in an audio which went viral early last month.
She said: ” I would like to personally confirm to you all dear regional chairpersons that i will be seeking reelection at the end of my tenure this month (March 2021).
” The constitution allows me to seek re-election for another fresh four year tenure of office.
“I still have the energy to run the Association and be able to implement some of the plans and project that i have already initiated as well as the yet to be launched netball trophies in the country.
However, the incumbent NAM Secretary General Carol Bapu was declined to state whether she will defend her position vie for the post of NAM President as has been speculated in some circles for quite some time now.
Initially, the indaba was supposed to take place last month but such plans were set aside amid Covid-19 upsurge coupled with stringent Covid-19 preventive measures set by the ministry of health.
The current NAM executive committee members got into office in 2017 following elections that took place at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi district.
