Mchinji District Football Association on Saturday 11th September 2021 launched a 2 Million Malawi Kwacha football league.
The league which is being sponsored by Joseph Family of Mankhwala Village, Traditional Authority Mavwere Mchinji will be participated by twenty teams across the district.
The launch which took place at Mkanda Primary School ground in Mchinji was presided over by Vice General Secretary for the Central Region Football – CRFA Antonio Sanchez Manda who hailed the Joseph family for the timely Sponsorship. Manda also appealed to Mchinji District Football Association – MDFA to make sure the patronage of the league is good so that the hard to find sponsorship is safeguarded.
Manda added that, it is the association’s wish to see many players graduating from this league and play in Superleague teams: and even national team.
“It is sad that teams playing in elite league do not pay much attention to district leagues by sending their scouts to watch games where they can identify good talents for the betterment of their teams”, he said.
Selemani Rashid Amosi who represented the Sponsor, Mr Joseph Amosi at the launch said the family decided to venture into football sponsorship with an aim of complementing government efforts in sports development in the district and Malawi as a whole. As such, the family has distanced itself from politics saying the family has no any plans of joining politics as many may think.
“We are sponsoring this league just to keep the youths busy and as football loving family” Rashid Seleman said.
Martin Panyanja, Mchinji District Sports Officer hailed Joseph family for the sponsorship saying this will help the district in identifying hidden talent and assured CRFA and MDFA that as government, they are going to work hand in hand with them so that the aim of the league is implemented successfully.
The rivals Mkanda Youth Football Club and Mpazi FC played on the launch in which Mkanda Youth defeated Mpazi by a goal to nil; a goal scored by Whisper Chibalo in the 65th minute of the game.
