Dennis Nandolo, Chimwemwe Kumkwawa, Henry Misinjo and Wonderful Jeremani have tested positive for coronavirus, Blue Eagles football club announced Sunday.
The club’s statement said the four players were not showing symptoms of Covid-19 and that they had entered isolation.
“Our Team Doctor is taking all necessary measures to have the players quarantined as per the public health regulations
Meanwhile, the Patron (IG), Executive and Technical panel are wishing the players quickest recovery”, the statement said.
On Friday, Blue Eagles FC conducted COVID-19 tests as a requirement by SULOM before commencement of training in readiness for 2020 season.
The Area 30 giants becomes the third elite team after Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets to conduct mass Covid-19 tests ahead of the 2020/2021 season resumption next month.
They are also the second top flight team to publicly reveal names of the affected players. The Bankers were the first to do the same.
According to a road-map provide by the Presidential Task-force on Covid-19, training sessions resumes Sunday, October 18, 2020 only on condition that all players, backroom staff and support staffs are cleared for the pandemic.
