Patrick Phiri scored a 22nd minute first half equalizer as Civo held Silver Strikers to earn a vital away point in TNM Super League to move up eighth on the log table, two steps above city rivals.
After six minutes of play, Chawanangwa Kaonga displayed composure inside the box to slot the ball past Civo goalkeeper Enerst Kakhobwe at Silver Stadium.
Nickson Mwase initiated the move from the midfield when he laid a glasscutter pass to Blessings Tembo who then provided a defense splitting pass before Chawanangwa thumped a shot into the bottom corner.
But Civo, without an away league win since the start of the 2022 season on 19 April, responded positively as Patrick Phiri leveled the scores in the 22nd minute from Damiano Kunje’s pass inside the box.
With just seconds before the final whistle, Patrick Macheso blasted over the cross bar a goal scoring opportunity when he received a beautiful pass from Frank Banda inside the six yard box.
It was a game of two halves with Silver Strikers dominating the first half while Civo dictated the match pretty much during the second half.
In the end, the city rivals held out to a point a piece and take their tally to four points each but Civo Service FC have a superior goal difference over their counterparts. Civo are now on 8th position, two steps above silver strikers.
Civo had started the day on seventh place, but slipped to eighth, behind Kamuzu Barracks and Ekwendeni Hammers respectively.
