Government has reaffirmed its resolve to support fully fund Flames engagements just as it will do with other sporting activities. `
Minister of Sports Ulemu Msungama made the assurance after paying a courtesy call to flames players and officials currently in camp at Mpira Village in Chiwembe Township.
“Don’t doubt the commitment of the Tonse Alliance’s administration towards Flames because you are a living testimony that just last week, government sanctioned the team’s camp, that’s commitment.
Be rest assured that this administration will see to it that funding to the National team gets FAM on time”, Msungama said.
Commenting on resumption of sporting activities, the Minister of Sports advised clubs and athletes to borrow a leaf from FAM’s COVID-19 preventive measures being followed by the Flames at Mpira village.
“I must admit, if all stakeholders from various sporting disciplines are to follow the footsteps of FAM when it comes to covid-19 prevention, then the resumption of sporting activities in the country will be a success”, he said.
During the impromptu visit, the minister advised the players to put in extra effort and observe discipline if they are to reach greater heights with their career.
The Flames started their camp training on Monday in preparation for friendly matches in October and back to back 2022 AFCON qualifying matches against Burkina Faso in November.
