Nyasa big Bullets have been crowned the 2019 TNM Super League Champions after finishing top of the log table.
The people’s team’s crown was confirmed in front of a huge enthusiastic crowd that thronged Kamuzu Stadium as they comfortably beat TN Stars by 2 goals to nil.
The people’s team went into the match against TN Stars with one mission and that is nothing short of a win, knowing fully well a loss or draw would hand on a silver platter, the title to their traditional archrival Be Forward Wanderers.
No wonder, Nyasa Big Bullets drew the first blood of the match through Peter Banda before Hassan Kajoke increased the tally to two goals.
In the meantime, their neighbor Be Forward Wanderers were already 3 nil up in their encounter against relegated side Mponela United.
However, Bullets hanged on to the two nil lead until the final whistle which sent the stadium, parked to the bream into frenzy.
“We are happy that our boys demonstrated the true championship spirit by making sure that we finish the league as champions.
The journey to this victory has not been easy but we owe it all to our players and supporters who have shown character from the day one of the 2019 season”, Peter Mponda who is Bullets FC assistant coach said.
Sports Minister Francis Phiso graced the occasion and was delighted with the unity the game of football continue to render among people from all walks of life
“Football unites people since it draws supporters from across the political divide.
Us as politicians must learn something from the football fraternity who chants teams together in praise of their team despite subscribing to varying political ideologies,” he said.
Lt. Col Gilbert Mitawa congratulated Nyasa Big Bullets for being crown the 2019 champions.
“Bullets deserves this award for being the most consistent performance through the 2019 football season”, Lt. Col Mitawa said.
When all was said and done, the big moment Bullets supporters had been waiting for arrived.
The people’s team had to be rewarded for their hard work, determination and championship fighting spirit.
And as Captain Chimango Kayira lifted the trophy, wild celebrations erupted in the stadium.
