BNS’s record breaking gate revenue totals MWK 72M

The Malawi 2023 AFCON qualifier with Ethiopia last Sunday grossed over 72 million Kwacha at the Bingu National Stadium, in Lilongwe.

This is the highest revenue to be recorded in a single match since the Bingu National Stadium started hosting games nearly a decade ago.

Over 33,000 Spector’s purchased advanced tickets for the match, Football Association of Malawi says.

FAM spent over 19 million kwacha in organising the match, a gate revenue report released by the Malawi FA reveals.

Out of this amount, FAM spent  over 12 million Kwacha towards ticketing and sales commission, a further 3.5 million kwacha went to security service providers, other service providers received 1.9 million kwacha and the VIP hospitality consumed 1.5 million kwacha.

The report further indicate that the revenue distribution after recording the 72.2 million kwacha gross FAM paid BNS 13.5 million Kwacha as ground levy.

The Malawi National Council of Sports got 2.6 million kwacha as its share while FAM received a whopping 37.1 million Kwacha.
