Blantyre and District Netball League is set to meet their sponsors rainbow paints next week to map the way forward for this year’s season following the resumption of sporting activities on 17 October.
BDNL General Secretary Annie Hanjahanja says currently the committee is yet to embarked on any preparations regarding the 2020 season.
Hanjahanja further admitted that her committee is not certain as regard to whether the 2020 BDNL Rainbow paints league will throw off or not.
“We will be meeting our sponsors rainbow paints next week ,thereafter we will also have a discussion with our mother body netball association of malawi.
Once these consultations are are done, we will come back to brief teams on whether the league will take off or not”, Hanjahanja said.
However, Hanjahanja remained upbeat of Rainbow Paint’s continued sponsorship for the league saying they got assurances during the 2019 season wind up.
“When we were closing the 2019 season in December they assured us that they will come again in 2020 season.
But with the corona virus pandemic we are only hoping for the best to come out of the upcoming meeting”, added Hanjahanja.
During the 2019 season, Rainbow Paints showed its commitment in improving netball in the country by injecting K10.5 million from K6.5 million.
Kukoma Diamonds are the Rainbow Paints 2019 reigning champions, a title they jealously and successfully defended after being crowned 2018 champions.
For winning the league, Diamonds pocketed K1.2 million with runners up Tigresses getting K700, 000, and the third-placed side tropical queens cutting home K350, 000.
